Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress Series #1)

Halfway to the Grave - Jeaniene Frost I think I need to stop reading books that have been highly recommended to me, because I am inevitably let down. It's my own fault; I have such high expectations after I hear all the raves, so it's easy to become disappointed with what I actually get.In a nutshell, this story has everything that I'd love: badass heroine, hot hero, action and suspense and lots of ass kicking. Plus, vampire slayer in love with a vampire? Considering Angel is in my top 5 TV shows of all time, you can imagine my intrigue.Unfortunately, it fell flat. Cat is a kick ass heroine, yes, but she's also an extremely annoying, selfish and immature one. I couldn't get past a lot of her traits and that turned me off.The story itself was intriguing enough, but that wasn't enough to keep me happy. I need several things in the books I read, one of the most important being an HEA. We didn't get that with this book, and we didn't get it in the worst way. I won't spoil as to what specifically this is, but I wasn't a happy camper (as you can see by my status update).Obviously I'm going on to book 2, since she didn't leave me much of a choice. *grumbles*
