The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold If you want a book to cry at, this is the one. This book was hard to read. Like, awful. The first 70 pages had me in near sobs. It was gut-wrenching. But after those first 70 pages, it started to get a bit easier. Reading the tale the author wove was, at times, difficult in regards to the time jumps - sometimes forward, sometimes backward - and figuring out what, exactly, was going on now. Several times I found myself re-reading passages because I was sure I'd missed something. The last 1/4, or even 1/8 of the book got...very bizarre. It was not at all how I wanted/expected/hoped for it to end, so that made the ending a bit of a letdown to me. But I guess my idea of justice for Susie and her family wasn't what the book was about. In the end, it was a beautiful, thought provoking read. But, one I will never force myself to read again. ;)
