Speak

Speak - Laurie Halse Anderson Now, contrary to what I'd heard when I started Hush, Hush, I'd heard only good things about this book, so perhaps my expectations were a little too high, but I was quite let down when I read.It was a quick read, finished it in a few hours. It was a good tale of high school angst, and definitely portrayed a "real" picture of what school is like. However, I just didn't mesh with the writing style. I found it choppy and difficult to read. I did enjoy the MC's inner monologue and found her humor, well, humorous. The "big reveal" was easy enough to guess from the summary, so I wasn't shocked when that came out.I would have liked more character involvement from a few of them, but I really did like how Mr. Freeman was portrayed and liked that he was the one that she actually opened up to in the end (or so we're left to assume).I thought the ending was good and satisfying, but, overall, I wasn't incredibly satisfied with the book.
