Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - J.K. Rowling, Mary GrandPré 3.5 starsReally, what can I say about this book that hasn't been said a million times before? My single 3.5 star rating isn't going to persuade or dissuade anyone from reading. By the last third of the book, I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters, all of them, and was on the edge of my seat reading. I'd somehow managed to not be spoiled on anything, so I had a nice little surprise coming to me in the end. However, the fact that it took me four months to get through a book speaks volumes. The first two-thirds was boring and weighted down with details that had me losing interest quickly. I'm told book 3 is when it starts getting really good. So, hopefully I'll be starting that by September.
