This book was, to put it simply, beautiful. Emotional and heart-wrenching and funny and heart-warming and completely bittersweet. The way the story was told reminded me a lot of The Lovely Bones, though I think this author pulled it off much better. We got to see Mia's life now, in the present, but the author also took us effortlessly back to other places in time to build up the relationships Mia had in her life, making us empathize easily with the situation at hand. This was a fast read, but be ready with the kleenex. It broke and warmed my heart all at once. I only wish I had more of it to read.
